Importance of Charity

Charity is one of the fundamental principles of Islam, and it holds great importance in the religion. Here are some of the reasons why charity is important in Islam: It is a means of purifying wealth: By giving a portion of their wealth in the way of Allah, Muslims purify their wealth and rid themselves of any greed or attachment to material possessions. It is a way to express gratitude to Allah: Muslims recognize that all their blessings come from Allah, and giving charity is a way to express gratitude for those blessings. It is a means of helping the poor and needy: Charity is a way to help those who are less fortunate and in need of assistance. In Islam, it is considered a duty to help those in need and alleviate their suffering. It is a way to earn reward and forgiveness from Allah: Muslims believe that giving charity is a way to earn reward from Allah and seek His forgiveness for their sins. It is a way to follow the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was known for his generosity and charitable acts, and Muslims are encouraged to follow his example. Overall, charity is considered an essential part of the Islamic faith, and Muslims are encouraged to give generously and regularly to those in need. Also prphet Muhammad PBUH emphasised on charity, He PBUH was most giver of charity. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of charity in many of his Hadith. Here are a few examples: "Charity does not decrease wealth." (Sahih Muslim) This Hadith highlights the idea that giving charity does not diminish one's wealth, but rather increases it in the long term by earning the blessings and rewards of Allah. "The best charity is that given in Ramadan." (Tirmidhi) This Hadith emphasizes the importance of giving charity during the month of Ramadan, which is considered a blessed and holy month in Islam. "Whoever removes a worldly grief from a believer, Allah will remove from him one of the griefs of the Day of Judgment." (Sahih Muslim) This Hadith highlights the rewards of helping others and relieving their suffering, even if it is just a small act of kindness. "A charity is due for every joint in each person's body every day the sun rises. To bring justice between two people is charity; to help a man with his mount, lifting him onto it or hoisting up his belongings onto it is charity; a good word is charity; and removing a harmful thing from the road is charity." (Bukhari and Muslim) Here some verses of Quran about charity "Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah and do not follow up their spending with reminders [of it] or [other] injury will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve." [Quran 2:262] "And [they are] those who, when they spend, do so not excessively or sparingly but are ever, between that, [justly] moderate." [Quran 25:67] "You will not attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love. And whatever you spend, indeed Allah is Knowing of it." [Quran 3:92] "O you who have believed, spend from that which We have provided for you before there comes a Day in which there is no exchange and no friendship and no intercession. And the disbelievers - they are the wrongdoers." [Quran 2:254] "And in their wealth is a recognized right for the needy and the deprived." [Quran 70:24-25] "And those within whose wealth is a known right for the petitioner and the deprived." [Quran 70:24-25] "The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing." [Quran 2:261] "And give the relative his right, and [also] the poor and the traveler, and do not spend wastefully." [Quran 17:26] "And [also] those who, before them, had homes [in Medina] and had adopted the faith, love those who emigrate to them, and find not any want in their breasts of what the emigrants were given but give [them] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful." [Quran 59:9] "Indeed, those who give zakah and those who give charity and those who believe in Allah and the Last Day - to them [We] will give a great reward."
